The incumbent is to present for work in a timely manner, groomed professionally, and perform their job function in accordance with all Norton Healthcare standards, policies and procedures and all internal physician practice policies. The Receptionist serves as the liaison between the physician and patient and offers the added skill of providing the radiology function. The incumbent is responsible for answering the telephone, determining the nature of patient calls and incoming calls, scheduling appointments, routing calls, taking appropriate messages, pulling charts for messages, greeting patients and family members, obtaining registration and insurance data and updating information in the billing system, and facilitating patient flow into the practice. Employee may also be responsible for charge entry, referrals & pre-certifications, as well as scheduling of specialist appointments and diagnostic tests. The incumbent attends to patients utilizing the age appropriate principles of growth and development for patients of all ages according to the practice specialty.
A minimum certification of a Limited Radiation Operator is required to perform x-rays. High School diploma or GED. Prefer one year of experience as secretary or as assistant in an associated position. Some experience with data entry and information access on a practice management software system. Knowledge of CPT and ICD-9 preferred.
